At the age of eighteen I decided to expand my knowledge of the wider world and its many cultures through travel. For two years I lived in Israel and Cyprus and travelled through various southern European countries. I do speak a little Hebrew although I haven’t had much use for it in the last twenty five years! I still remember how to ask for the toilet though, that’s going to be useful I’m sure.
I married in Florida in 1996 and have two beautiful girls, Katie aged ten (I can’t believe it’s double figures already)! And Charlotte whose coming up to nine. They both attended Wesley Avenue Pre-school and are now both at Offley Primary School. I also share the family home with , two Dogs, one Hamster and one Giant African land snail (honestly the things children bring home from school these days!) and one Horse, although we do try to keep him outside, as he keeps banging his head.
I started working at Wesley Avenue four years ago but, before this, I volunteered to help ‘wash up’ one day a week, as my youngest child was here and I enjoyed spending time ‘giving something back’, and I guess wanted to be close to my youngest and last child before she went off to ‘big school’ . I thought I would take a little part time job with no pressure, (well you can’t have everything) and lots of holidays, and after all being with the ‘little people’ is a lot of fun (all volunteers welcome)! .
Additionally, I co-ordinate the walking bus scheme to Offley Primary to promote a safer way to travel to school. Hence the bike and the funny hat, eat your heart out Mary Poppins! |
